Like many of the loveliest people in my life lately, I “met” Melanie and Vickie online. If we were talking in person I’d probably use air quotes, but the reality is that we’ve never met in person either, and so real quotes are totally appropriate.
I guess. But I feel like I know them.
Their wedding is infused with so much personality and is just so abundant and overflowing in joy that it speaks to a part of who they are that really resonates with me. And I like it. They love color. They have great taste. And a sense of humor. (dog vest!) They have beautiful friends and family who love them dearly. And joy. So much joy, I’m sitting here at my computer with a big ol’ stupid grin on my face.
I hope you’ll join me:
Right?! And this wasn’t even their first wedding! Melanie and Vickie were married in a whirlwind City Hall ceremony the day before Prop 8 passed here in California. Here’s a little snippet from Melanie on finally doing it with friends:
Vickie and I have had some time to reflect since our wedding, and both of us agree that it was the happiest day of our lives. To be able to share our love and commitment with friends and family, and have the community witness our exchange of vows, was so meaningful and made our existing marriage from 2008 all the more significant.
Community people. Weddings and protests bring on the water-works. For serious.
And just wait until you see the ladies favorite part of their wedding day…
It’s goood. And lucky us, there’s just so much more of it!
So I’ll see you a bit later today okay?

So beautiful and so much joy!
Super beautiful wedding and it looks like they’re having so much fun! I love all the bright colors!
Yes- people having fun is my favorite thing to see in wedding photos! And crafts!
I love this! The dress colors are so perfect! (as is the leap from the platform after the ceremony!)
Totally! The leap is a perfect expression of all that glee!
I am sure you have lots of leaping in your future Ms. Butters!

You’re right, the colors are amazing! I especially love the photo with the green and orange streamers (my two favorite colors). This wedding makes me want to redo mine; my colors were black, white, and silver. Talk about opposite of color!
