This cape is super fun to wear, super warm, and super attractive to Canadians. Sadly my dears, it’s not a vintage Hudson Bay blanket (which would be awesome), it’s just a regular old new Pendleton.
And because you can never have too many stripes (not ever) I wore this allyoucaneat Alice + Olivia number underneath it. Seriously, this thing sucks you in like an old fashioned girdle- only half as uncomfortable and twice as cute!
Can we talk accessories for a minute? A friend of mine got that nonsense Chanel quote about always removing one item before you leave the house stuck in my head years ago, and I try, oh how I try you guys, but I just can’t do it. I love my accessories. I’m wearing vintage enamel bracelets, a gifted slice of ganache cake necklace (with glitter!) and two belts with a dress that isn’t. going. anywhere.
Coco, I’m hopeless!
The Outfit: Pendleton Cape, Alice + Olivia Dress, Hue Tights, Gold DIY Shoes Madewell Leopard Belt, J. Crew Red Belt, Vintage + J. Crew Bracelets enamel bracelets, “Tabitha” Necklace, Tiny Hands Necklace , Swan Purse
The Photographer: Cynthia. Cheesemonger Extraordinaire.
The Location: Maximiliano’s, Highland Park. Have you eaten there yet?
AND…
Just for fun, here’s another cute blogger rocking the same cape, and here’s the reason Canadians think it’s a Hudson Bay.
I was totally that weird kid rocking a cape in high school by the way.
What about you?

It’s funny, because I sat up in my chair when I saw the first picture and said ‘ooh, HBC blanket!’.
Totally! I wore it ALT and at least 8 Canadians mentioned it! I had to look it up when I got home, and it sure is close!
HBC or Pendleton, either way it’s rockin’! Love it! And, go on with your accessories! Do I agree with Coco? Sure. For *her* sense of style. Obviously, her style was awesome but if it’s hers and not yours then to hell with it. You go on with your cake necklace!
Weird kid rocking a cape in high school? Me? No, I was just the kid eating lunch in the art room by himself and dealing with an unfortunate mishap with a razor and my sideburns on the first day of school. Oy!
Ooh! Unfortunate accidents like that are SO much more painful in high school right? And I have a theory that most awesome adults ate lunch alone in the art room at least once or twice in high school…so you’re helping prove that’s true!
As for Coco, I so admire *her* sense of style… But alas, it’s just not me. Oh well!
Also, I should clarify that my cape was vintage navy wool. I wish I had it now. Weird, but not exactly goth. A freak among freaks, lol.
well, now i’m curious to find out whether the HBC blanket or pendleton’s glacier park blanket came first (i always grew up knowing it as the latter) Copyright infringement! You KNOW i love this cape since I’ve asked you about it like 9 times. I WILL find one of my own
Please report back!
And best of luck!
I love the idea of wearing 2 belts at the same time! And as far as “who wore it best” in the cape department. You nailed it! Thanks for the link to the hudson bay blanket explanation. Although some people think I’m Canadian (or more often from Michigan) I’ve never been there. And no, I did not rock a cape in high school…now I’m wishing I had.
Ha ha, thanks Rachel! And I can totally see why you are mistaken for Canadian- you’re so nice!
As for who wore it best, well, *blush and thanks, but I’m totally gonna take a tip from her and go super casual next I sport the cape.
Oh, and P.S. Tell Cynthia she is an amazing photographer! I meant to say that in my earlier comment
Will do!
Wow, that cape is awesome! And you totally rock it! I wish I was brave enough to wear something that amazing.
Totally in love with this look!
I agree! I was JUST thinking the other day about how that quote is just utter nonsense. Most women I see could benefit from a few more accessories. Accessorize, people!
Totally. The more the merrier.
where are your sunglasses from?!? I love them! I also, I just moved from salt lake to new york and the change in thrifting ops has crippled me:(
Oops! Did I forget them? They’re Illestava!
Yes- NY has tons, but like LA they’re crazy expensive/picked over compared to SLC, right?
Are you enjoying NY otherwise though?
OHhhh that cape! I die!!
This outfit is gorgeous. That cape is BEYOND stunning.
