Two Words & A Mantra

1/2/3

A while back, far enough so that it probably wasn’t even on this blog, I mentioned that I have a personal mantra. (I also promise that I’m not a total hippy)

But you wanna hear it right?

Hint: I never turn down gelato.
Or, I always try to say yes first.

Often times it’s followed by “and” or “but” (like any good theater major)
but I do like to be open to the possibilities.
So I try to say yes first, even when it’s hard and all I really want to do
is throw myself on the ground kicking and screaming “nononono.”

And this year I added a few more wordy ambitions: get involved and connect.

I like my little triumvirate because I can apply it to every aspect of life- work, home, love, friends, big and little goals alike.

What about you? Do you have a personal mantra or choice words that inspire?
Please share immediately. (hint: just say yes)

Great mantras! I don’t have a personal one right now, but think it’s something that I need to have. I’ll work on it and let you know!

  2. i think mine is “patience, patience, patience” and “try something new”. love yours though!

My husband and I are often saying “one day” as in “one day we will go to New York” and “one day we will have a dog” and while it might be a downer to some it makes us smile and keeps us looking ahead and knowing that while things might be hard now they will not always be.
On a personal note mine is “you never know” as in “you never know till you try” or “you never know till you ask” and it reminds me that life is full of surprises that you will never know unless you go out and find them and if it goes bad well at least you know now.
My husbands personal one is “suit yourself/suit themselves” and it reminds us that we are not in control of what other people do and that we think they are not doing what they should they are only effecting themselves as we choose ourselves how to be effected.

Just found this in a yoga book my fiance got me for my birthday. It kind of blew my mind. It’s not a catchy phrase- but it basically sums up exactly how I feel about the world and aspire to live out every day:

What if our religion was each other,
If our practice was our life,
    If prayer, our words
What if the temple was the Earth
    If forests were our church,
If holy water the rivers, lakes, and ocean
What if meditation was our relationships,
    If the teacher was life,
    If wisdom was self-knowledge,
If love was the center of our being.

    Namaste :)

“Every little bit helps.” That’s been my mantra for at least 15 years.

Completely loving this post! Since I started my blog I have been inspired to say yes to things no matter what. I think it makes life so much more fun and also has helped me realize there are things out there I can get simple little pleasure from. xx Pam

Mine is “Never turn down an invitation” I can be a little shy and a homebird at times so it reminds me to put myself out there when the opportunity arises, as you never know what might happen! x
