Oscar Party Madness: Part 1

Hope you all had a fantastic (potentially long) weekend!

Mine was busy, busy, busy- throwing a baby shower, catching up with friends, eating delicious french food, and finally getting this post together… Because yowza! It’s T-minus 5 days until the Oscars you guys!

And I’m dead serious about the Oscars.
And totally unapologetic for my love of glitter too.

So even though I still don’t know who played in the Superbowl (really), and I haven’t had time to figure out the drama between Fumble + Aberdeen (Puppybowl!), I did have time to dream up my perfect Oscar Party Scenario, cover a bunch of shit in glitter, and have the fabulous Heidi Ryder capture it for you all to enjoy! All while sipping cocktails with friends.

It was awesome. And I’m excited to do it all again this weekend for reals!
Enough chatter though, let me give you the glitter:

This little 1960′s inspired sparkle-fest was tons of fun to put together, and I’m so glad my friends + family indulged me in dressing up and drinking so early in the afternoon!

AND I hope you’re able to glean lots of simple + sparkly inspiration for your own party!

My advice is to keep it simple with a champagne cocktail (champagne + a dash of lavender bitters here), bright florals, and fun ballots. Hammy friends in cocktail attire are appreciated, but not required! And for nibbles, don’t kill yourself. Who doesn’t love cheese + chocolate?

If you’ve enjoyed this first installment of the glittersparklemagic that Oscar party dreams are made of, make sure you check back later for more fun and a few awesome free downloads!
Including those amazing glitter bomb ballots by Lupa & Pepi! Swoon.

As for me, I’m floating along in a super sparkly glitter bubble this week.
Seriously. Even my dogs are covered in glitter you guys.

So I’ll see you later for some freebies, mkay?
Also, we need to talk Michelle Williams.
Did you see My Week With Marilyn?

Ohhh I LOVE this! I’ve been trying to talk my fiance’ into throwing an Oscar party with me, but I think we waited too late in the game. :( I’ll just live vicariously through this post (although I must admit, I don’t share your love of glitter- too many cheerleading memories of not being able to get it out of my hair for weeks, haha). The colors are fabulous and what fun friends/family to get dressed up for something like that!

    • Tabitha says:

Ha ha- maybe if I had the cheerleading memories I wouldn’t still be finding glitter stuck to the side of my face! Oh well!
And it’s never too late for a party of two in my opinion!

so fun!! it’s been a long time since i’ve even watched the Oscars, but this makes me want to throw my own party! love the vintage dresses too!

  3. Kira says:

Ah! My awards show routine lately has been: start reading fashion commentary on Twitter, tune to E, watched the last 20 minutes of red carpet, lament that the actual awards show won’t be starting for three more hours due to west coast time, do something else, forget about show, tune in around an hour late, realize I haven’t seen any movies all year, and listen to boyfriend complain about the length of said awards show.

Covering shit in glitter sounds way more fun!

    • Tabitha says:

Ha ha! Tomorrow I’m gonna offer the downloadable ballot, so then you’ll be able to do both (cover shit in glitter + distractedly watch the awards!) Unfortunately I can’t help your BF out with the crazy show length. And it is SO long.

  4. This is just so lovely! I’m really crushing glitter lately and recently helped throw a glittery champagne birthday party for my good friend (http://thisnestisbest.com/2012/02/16/champagne-30th-birthday-party/), but I really love your use of bright colors!

    • Tabitha says:

Wow! Nice work- it looked awesome! Love love love all the gold glitter, especially that glitter ball installation!

  5. Mindy says:
