Our next post is from Terri over at Try Anything Once (best blog name ever btw!) Terri is a girl after my own heart (wine, chocolte & chorizo) and she covers all the edible bases below. Thanks Terri!
I was so excited that Tabitha asked me to write about my favorite foodie holiday finds in New York City. I love New York City during the holidays: skating below the Rockefeller Tree, the holiday show at Radio City Musical Hall and the fabulous department stores windows. What I love even more is the perfect excuse to indulge my friends and family by getting them great food gifts. Here are a few of my favorites:
1. During the holidays I am a sucker for anything sweet. My first foodie suggestion would be my favorite local chocolatier, Nunu Chocolates. I live way too close to this little purveyor of fabulous handmade chocolates. I usually bring their 12-piece truffle assortment box with delectable fillings including everything from earl grey, absinthe, prosecco and espresso flavors as a host gift. Your friends and family will be asking you to come for a visit again soon. Other personal favorites from Nunu include the salted caramels. Also if you’re visiting Brooklyn, stop by their cosy storefront and enjoy a glass of wine, beer or their rich hot chocolate.

2. I don’t care if they are supposedly the food trend that won’t die; I love cupcakes. My new favorites come from the husband and wife team at Robicelli’s. Their constantly changing menu of inventive cupcakes is just what you need for that special holiday party you’re having or just because. I’m eying the eggnog cupcake (eggnog cake with eggnog buttercream and freshly grated nutmeg) or their gingerbread man cupcake (gingerbread cake, white chocolate pudding, speculoos buttercream and white chocolate dipper gingerbread man).

Robicelli’s cupcakes are available at a variety of locations throughout New York City including the Union Square holiday market and their flagship store at DeKalb Market.
3. I know that I can’t live on sweets alone during the holidays (although maybe I could try?). There’s nothing more New York City than a good bagel with all of the fixin’s. For the bagel lover in your life, you can’t go wrong with Russ & Daughter’s (a local institution) and their New York brunch package, which includes nova (brined and cured smoked salmon), cream cheese, bagels, chocolate babka, and coffee.

4. Forget about the imported stuff, Charles Wekselbaum’s Charlito’s Cocina makes chorizo in Brooklyn from local ingredients. Made by hand in small batches, the chorizo includes grass-fed pork, sea salt, and mild paprika. You’ll definitely find that the chorizo tastes as if it was directly from the old country.

Those are just a few items that you can find for the food lover in your life. For other good finds, check out the holiday markets at Union Square, the Brooklyn Flea Holiday Market and New Amsterdam Market (until December 18).
Enjoy the holiday shopping and tasty eats!
