Gift Local: SF Style by Sylvie

Meet Sylvie of silver lining! She lives in a city near and dear to my heart (it’s my former home!) and she knows where all the good stuff is hiding these days! Thanks Sylvie!

Hey hey, everybody!

My name is Sylvie and I pen a little music-style-feel good blog called silver lining. I’m crazy proud to call this glittering city by the bay my home. And I’m even more thrilled to be a guest blogger on my sweet friend Tabitha’s “Glitter & Ganache” today.

So let’s talk about my favorite city and those gifts that make my heart beam!
When people ask me to describe San Francisco in one word, I never miss a beat.

“LAYERS.”

See, in such a tiny {7×7 miles!} city, you’d think you could master this place within days. Do a lap or two and – poof! – the best coffee, the dreamiest vintage, the freshest decor – you’ve found it, tried it and lived to tell the tale.

Not so fast, pal. Slow down, put that city guide down and wander a bit.
Now what do you see?

One of the most terrific things about SF is the tucked away neighborhood gems that reveal themselves…just like *that*. Those fierce food and fashion scouts might know of the buzz worthy openings, but the other beloved haunts are just below the surface and yours to discover. Over the years, as we uproot from one neighborhood into the next, we’re welcomed to a new community of heavenly brunch spots, vintage bookshops and independent boutiques. And just like that, we fall in love with our city over and over and over again.

So today’s gift guide is dedicated to a few of my favorite San Francisco/Bay Area shops that hold a soft spot in my heart. And while most of their items may not hail from our city by the bay, these boutiques are carefully curated with the most delightful pieces that every SF resident would love. Like the vintage pharmacy bottles Laurie from Greenhouse Design Studio stumbled upon at a Parisian Flea Market. Or the new shades of cheerful Pantone Universe mugs at Park Life. And then there are those aromas and flavors (hello, Philz cardamom infused Philharmonic coffee beans & Welcome Stranger’s Patch NYC Owl candle) that add spice to our winter days.

Now let’s go shopping!

for your friend who lives for weekends in the mountains, or aspires to make her home feel like a woodsy winter getaway.

Patch NYC”>Owl & Stag Candles, $39
Vintage Pharmacy Jars, $17 – $79

for your favorite person who’s addicted to aggressive “one cup at a time” coffee & curious coffee cups.

Pantone Universe Coffee Mugs, $15/ea
1 lb “Philharmonic” Coffee Beans, $14.95

Now tell me – which of these San Francisco inspired gifts is your favorite?

Here’s to those gifts from home…that make our heart beam a little brighter.

xo,
sylvie
